Public spaces continue to face incredible design challenges as we integrate more technology and systems into the skin of our urban fabric. The practice and scope of Environmental Graphic Design continues to evolve as the user experience goes beyond the surface and expands into new domains. Disciplines have blurred and designers have the opportunity to shape, inform, and innovate next generation experiences. Designers continue to create and innovate, while learning how to navigate the frequently un-designed systems that permeate the public realm. The next generation of designers have the opportunity to embrace all forms of media to develop and touch upon the increased necessity of accessible public interfaces. The everyday spaces and scenarios of the future will be experienced in new ways and form new relationships between each of us and the mediums we encounter.

Today, as we continue to look forward to the future we reflect on those memories and remember that moment in time ten years ago and how it informed and continues to inform our journey in the world. signitecture is now based on Oklahoma with a satellite office in Cincinnati. We have been here just under two months and are very excited about the future!

signitecture Principal, Justin Molloy has been selected to present at the SEGD Academic Summit during the SEGD International Conference in Montreal, Canada in June. The lecture entitled Public Interfaces: Advanced Digital Design Studios will present student interactive experience design projects that involve interfaces in public spaces that have been the subject of his research and teachings during the last several years at UC DAAP.

signitecture recently completed another information graphic for the Get Lost page in segdDESIGN magazine issue 32. Based off a 2004 study of arrow legibility, the graphic highlights the most effective viewing distances associated with various arrow styles. The arrow in it's most simplistic form says "This way," but also represents a lethal weapon. The visual clarity between one arrow and another can result in a wide range of outcomes from getting lost, or encountering death. Check out the magazine online here.

Eleven presentations ranging from architecture, graphic design, photography and art work were delivered to a diverse audience of students and professionals @ UC DAAP.
